Welcome to AkwaabaRadio

Since December 24, 2009, we have been a unique community radio station. Our goal is to promote the freedom of ideas by giving a voice to the voiceless by offering them the airwaves to accomplish this. We enrich the Ghanaian and Africa community by knowing and spreading music, culture and the ideals of people here in the United States and elsewhere.

Akwaaba Radio is a pioneer in diversity. We broadcast in English and all Nine Ghanaian languages: Akan, Dagaare/Wale, Dagbane, Dangme, Ewe, Ga, Gonja, Kasem, Nzema. However, most of our broadcast is in English, the two dialects of Akan: Twi and Fante, Diversity is a tremendous source of inspiration that makes us creative and innovative. We are the cultural mosaic that represents the cultural diversity of Ghana.

Akwaaba Radio is a hotbed of music discovery and a great stage for experimentation and creative design. Akwaaba Radio collaborates with many organizations, festivals and through other public events to publicize the achievements and creations of Ghanaians.

Akwaaba Radio broadcasts daily local news with a regional and international focus on contemporary Ghana and Africa issues. Our goal is to enable all Ghanaians to understand and participate in finding solutions, in order to create greater social cohesion and a vibrant Ghanaian Community.

Every day we proudly recognize and address the challenges of articulating the uniqueness and universality of the Ghanaian communities that form the fabric of Ghana and Africa.
